Here are links to web sites that I have found to be of very high quality and contain useful information for software developers and those interested in network security

Gibson Research Corporation
Steve Gibson's software and computer security site, home of the famous Shields Up! interactive port scanning test. If you want a basic check to see whether your PC is safe and secure on the Internet try their free test. Steve Gibson programs all his software in assembly language, an admirable but uncommon feat.

Radsoft
Home of Rix2k Extreme Power Tools, an aptly named collection of some of the best written Windows power tools you can find. Radsoft has recently branched out into the world of programming for MacOS X in favor of Windows software.

www.mvps.org
A great collection of source examples for Windows programmers, particularly the Win32 network programming section.

www.sockets.com
A good starting point for learning about programming Windows sockets. Lots of example source code and downloadable utilities.

Winsock Programmer's FAQ
Everything you need to know about programming sockets for Windows (Winsock). Dozens of questions answered and many links to example source code.

www.codeguru.com
Another great site for Windows programmers with examples and discussions for all kinds of Windows programming.

DSL Reports port scan
Another good site for scanning your computer for vulnerabilities from a remote server.

PC Flank
Here's a great site devoted to general security issues and virus information. It is improving every day with a growing community in the forums section and a slick network scanner to remotely scan your system for open ports.

All Internet Security
Nice general site for security information, resources and software.

Here are some more web sites that offer varying levels of vulnerability checking against your PC from their site
